IRS Says Cyber Attacks More Extensive Than Previously Reported

The IRS reported in May that cyber thieves used 225,000 stolen SSNs and other data acquired through their online application called “Get Transcript” that allowed taxpayers to obtain prior-year return information.  The agency reviewed their numbers and show an additional 390,000 taxpayers have potentially been affected
