Perdue issued a recall on August 8th for more than 15,000 pounds of product that may be contaminated, according to a USDA statement. Consumers found small pieces of plastic in the product produced on February 5, 2014. The expense of a product recall can be high, especially when taking into account the cost to remove and dispose of the product and cost of public relations consultants.
